There's not a more common quilt block than the sawtooth star.

It's a favorite of mine and constantly proves itself useful in an endless varitety of ways.

For the Dreamland quilt, I've kept its basic look, but spruced it up a bit by shrinking it down small and turning it on point.

What I love about this pattern is the use of a single fat quarter for each column.

I think it gives a more modern look to it while keeping the fabric requirements low.

It also opens up possibilities for color playing with ombre looks.

Think of the columns going from lightest to darkest across the quilt.

Or maybe darkest in the middle then fading to lightest fabrics on either side.
