Aluminum 42 Cone Thread Rack from Brewer
Heavy-Duty Aluminum Thread Rack — Made in Pennsylvania
42-cone capacity. Built for 2,000-yard cones and larger.
Most affordable thread racks are designed for small spools. They sag, loosen, or split under the weight of full cones. This one is built differently: 3/16" laser-cut aluminum, formed in Pennsylvania, with mounting holes spaced at standard 16" wall-stud centers. It's engineered for studios that move thread through long-arm quilting machines, multi-head embroidery setups, and other commercial operations every day.
This is the rack a serious studio buys once. It's overbuilt — denser, more rigid, and more carefully made than a thread rack technically needs to be — and that's the point. Mounted and loaded, it becomes the visual anchor of the workspace: the kind of piece commercial shops want their customers to see, and that hobbyists end up featuring in the background of their workspace photos. It will still be flat, straight, and holding the same cones twenty years from now. By then, anyone who chose wood will be on their fifth rack.
Tested with all major commercial thread brands, including Isacord, Floriani, Robison-Anton, Signature, Superior, YLI, Gutermann, Mettler, Maxi-Lock, Wonderfil, and Presencia.

Sizing for your collection
Designed to install singly or in groups. A single rack starts most studios; two or three is what an active long-arm quilter or commercial embroidery operation typically needs to bring a full thread collection out of drawers and onto the wall. The 16" mounting hole spacing lines them up cleanly side by side.
One practical note: starting with one to test the fit is reasonable, but with 160 units total and no restock planned, that approach only works if there are still racks available when you decide to add a second.
Please read before ordering
This listing is for one rack. Some product photos show what multiple racks look like installed side by side; each rack is sold and shipped individually.
This rack mounts to a wall. It is not freestanding. It's designed to attach directly to wall studs, sewing cabinet framing, or another solid vertical surface. The 16" mounting hole spacing matches standard American wall stud framing for straightforward installation. Multiple mounting holes are provided for flexibility — not all of them need to be used.
Built for 2,000-yard cones and larger. The 4.36" posts are sized for commercial cones. Some smaller embroidery spools also fit properly — we've confirmed Isacord 1000m and Floriani 1000m sit correctly on these posts. However, smaller spools like Robison-Anton's 1100-yard size will not fit. If your collection is primarily small embroidery spools, our 14-spool aluminum mini rack is the better choice.
Mounting hardware is not included. The correct fasteners depend on what you're mounting to — drywall, wood studs, cabinet framing, or masonry all need different hardware. Your local hardware store can supply what you need for a few dollars. We don't include hardware because the wrong screws can cause a loaded rack to pull out of the wall, and the right ones depend on your specific installation.
Thread shown in photos is not included.
