Aurifil 12wt Mako Cotton Thread

Aurifil’s 12 weight thread is their thickest, boldest cotton thread—2-ply, made from 100% long-staple Egyptian Mako cotton. It's perfect when you want your stitching to be the star of the show, offering rich texture and strong visual impact.

This heavyweight thread shines in hand applique, hand embroidery, hand quilting, cross stitch, Sashiko, redwork, embellishment, and handmade lace. It also performs beautifully in machines for blanket stitch, machine applique, art quilting, and even machine embroidery, especially with longer stitch lengths. Longarm quilters and sergers often use it in the bobbin or lower looper to add depth and detail.

We carry all colors in 54 yard spools, with a selection of 1921 yard cones for larger or more frequent projects.

Tip: Use a 50wt thread in the bobbin and slow down the stitching speed slightly for the best machine results.
